My Statement of Faith

My faith is rooted in the authority of Scripture and centered on the person and work of Jesus Christ. I believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God and serves as the foundation for Christian faith, doctrine, and daily living. The following statement summarizes the biblical convictions that guide my faith, preaching, teaching, and ministry.

The Holy Scriptures

I believe the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God, without error in its truth, and the final authority for Christian faith, doctrine, and daily living. Scripture is living and powerful, revealing God's character, His redemptive plan, and His will for humanity. All beliefs, teachings, and ministry practices should ultimately be examined and governed by the Word of God.

The Triune God

I believe in one true and living God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each is fully God, equal in divine nature and glory, yet distinct in person. God is sovereign, holy, loving, all-knowing, all-powerful, and the Creator and Sustainer of all things.

Jesus Christ

I believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for the sins of humanity, was bodily raised from the dead, and ascended into heaven. Salvation is found in Christ alone, and He is Lord, Savior, and the only mediator between God and humanity.

The Holy Spirit

I believe the Holy Spirit is fully God and actively works in the life of every believer. He convicts of sin, draws people to Christ, comforts, teaches, guides, empowers, and equips believers for Christian living and ministry. I believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit remain active today and are given according to His will for the building up of the Church. I believe in the empowering work of the Holy Spirit following salvation, while speaking in tongues is not required as evidence of salvation or the Spirit’s presence.

Salvation

I believe all humanity is born into sin and stands in need of salvation. Salvation is the gift of God, offered by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and not earned by human works. A person receives salvation by repenting of sin, confessing Jesus Christ as Lord, and believing in the heart that God raised Him from the dead. Genuine saving faith produces a changed life and good works as evidence of that faith, for faith without works is dead. I believe those who are truly saved are secure in Christ and kept by the power and grace of God.

Sanctification and Christian Living

I believe sanctification is the continuing work of God in the life of the believer, through which we grow in holiness and become more like Jesus Christ. Salvation should produce spiritual growth, obedience, repentance, and a transformed life. While believers are not made perfect in this life, there should be continuing evidence of the Holy Spirit’s work in the way we live, love, serve, and obey God.

The Church

I believe the Church is the Body and Bride of Christ, made up of those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ. The local church exists to worship God, proclaim the Gospel, teach the Word of God, make disciples, fellowship together, serve others, and carry out the mission of Christ. Christ is the Head of the Church, and every ministry of the Church should ultimately operate under His authority and according to Scripture.

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

I believe water baptism is for those who have personally placed their faith in Jesus Christ and should be administered by immersion as an outward testimony of an inward faith. Baptism does not save a person but publicly identifies the believer with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I believe the Lord’s Supper is a sacred ordinance through which baptized believers remember the sacrifice of Christ and proclaim His death until He comes again.

Marriage and Family

I believe God established marriage as a covenant relationship between one man and one woman, and that sexual intimacy is reserved for marriage. Marriage should reflect love, faithfulness, sacrifice, and commitment according to the principles of Scripture. I believe the family is an important institution established by God, and Christian homes should seek to honor Christ and teach His Word from generation to generation.

I believe Scripture permits divorce in the case of sexual immorality and that matters of divorce and remarriage should be approached prayerfully, biblically, and with pastoral care according to the teaching of Scripture.

Spiritual Gifts and Spiritual Warfare

I believe spiritual gifts are given by the Holy Spirit for the service and edification of the Body of Christ and remain active according to the sovereign will of God. No single spiritual gift, including speaking in tongues, is required as evidence of salvation.

I believe Satan is a fallen spiritual being who opposes God and seeks to deceive and destroy. His authority is limited and remains subject to the sovereignty of God. Believers are called to resist the enemy through faith, prayer, obedience, the Word of God, and the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Return of Christ and Eternity

I believe Jesus Christ will personally return according to the promise of Scripture. I believe in the resurrection of the dead, the final judgment of humanity, and the eternal reality of heaven and hell. Those who belong to Christ have the everlasting hope of eternal life in His presence.

I believe God will ultimately bring His redemptive plan to completion, evil will be finally defeated, and Christ will reign in victory. Therefore, believers should live faithfully, expectantly, and prepared for the return of Jesus Christ.

Closing Statement

My Statement of Faith represents the biblical convictions that guide my personal walk with Christ, my preaching, my teaching, and my service in ministry. While Christians may differ on secondary matters of interpretation and practice, I remain committed to the authority of Scripture, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the unity of the Body of Christ.
